5th Grade Masterpieces!

Henri Matisse

We have been talking this week about Henri Matisse's cut outs. Kindergarten and 1st grade created cut outs of their own. Take a look: Mrs. Woener's 1st grade: http://picasaweb.google.com/smcsart/MrsWoenerSMatisse # Mrs. Zwick's Kindergarten: http://picasaweb.google.com/smcsart/MrsZwickSMatisse #

A little late!!!

I know I am a month late on this but I had to post these - yes, that is actual snow on St. Martha and yes, that is my oldest son in SHORTS running in the snow. We, Houston folks, have no clue how to act in snow!!! :) Okay, on the subject of my family, as some of you already know, I have 4 children here at St Martha. The other day, I was talking with one of my younger sons about Vocations Month. He was telling me that they were discussing vocations in class. He said, "Mommy, I'm really not sure what God is calling me to be when I grow up but I hope He wants me to be a zoo keeper. If not a zoo keeper, then maybe a priest.......I'm not sure yet." - I thought it was funny! not sure where the zoo keeper came from???? I guess God will tell him later on -

Friday Afternoons!!!

This is how I spend my Friday afternoons - I love my job!!!

Dimensional Art

Second and Fourth grade have been working on a dimensional art project. This project takes a lot of patience since you have to glue down each little tab onto the base paper. I will have to say that I was very impressed by the way they worked on it. Take a look at Mrs. Daigre's 4th grade : http://picasaweb.google.com/smcsart/MrsDaigreSDimensionalArt?authkey=q6dZwwJL2Kw#

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Contest

The Rodeo Art entries are posted by the front office, I hope you get a chance to go by and see them along with the ribbons that they won. Mrs. Flickinger and I were very proud as we returned from the Reliant Center with 9 blue , 5 red and  2 white ribbons! Check your Crusader for the list of 2008 -2009 winners!

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a fantastic break and ready for the New Year! As for me, I've been having major camera problems with the pictures that I promised during the break stuck in my camera which is not holding a charge long enough to transport pictures to my computer. Anyhow, I've switched to my old camera so I will have pictures soon of our SMCS artwork! Rodeo Art winners were selected and will be posted soon. The judges had a very hard time narrowing it down to sixteen. Tomorrow, Mrs. Flickinger and I will be headed to the Reliant Center for our 16 winners to be judged by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo judges. By the looks of it, I'll bet we come back with lots of ribbons this year!
